The human face of money
There are two sides to money.
One side is the 'left brain' analytical, number-crunching side that works with data, structure and the organisation of money.
The other side is the 'right brain' emotional, behavioural side that works with the people, feelings and human elements of money.
But don't just take my word for it. Bruce Weber - the professor of information management at the London Business School - says “People’s relationship with their money is complex and emotional. The academic field of finance details how to select investments and make rational financial choices, but closer examination shows individuals and even market professionals deviate from these models. People’s rationality and will power are limited. Psychological biases often mean money is not managed according to theory.”
Looking at this another way, we could say that this represents the 'head' and the 'heart' of money.
So, when dealing with a financial planning company - or any company - make sure you are dealing with one that has a head AND a heart, a company that understands and cares about people as well as it understands money. Otherwise, you might only be getting half of the picture.
Your life. Your money.
Or, in other words, people first, money second.
