What is equity release?

If you are over age 55 and own your home it is possible to release your equity to give you a lump sum or an income or both.

Is it suitable for me?

We have connections with over 25 companies with nearly 50 schemes and our fully qualified independent financial planners meet you personally to carefully assess and understand your current position and needs.

Lifetime mortgages & home reversion plans?

These are the two main plans which enable you to release your capital and provide you with a monthly income so that you may remain in your home for the rest of your life.

What else could I do?

  • If you have money invested you could use some of this
  • Are you entitled to state benefits or grants?
  • If you are in debt – consult Citizens Advice Bureau
  • You could sell your property and buy a smaller one or rent/move into sheltered accommodation
  • You could ask your relatives to help with monthly expenses

How much does it cost to find out more?

The first meeting with one of our financial planners to assess your circumstances and needs is completely free of charge so that we can discuss and explain everything to you face to face. At this meeting we provide full information, show you options, answer all of your questions and explain our fees. After this meeting, if you then decide to proceed we arrange a further meeting so that we can research the providers and prepare your quotation and application forms.

What do I do next if I want to find out more?

Because we have many years of experience in dealing with our clients, we understand that the possibility of releasing your money from your home is a very difficult thing to consider so we only advise you face to face. We do not give our advice by phone or post so we meet with you in your home or our offices so that you obtain the maximum benefit to find out if equity release is suitable for you. This means that you do not have to complete the forms yourself and saves you long phone conversations with the provider's “Help lines”!

Is there anything else I should know?

As we only advise you face to face and complete all of the forms with you, we are happy to meet with you in your home but as we are based in Chester we can only do this up to about 50 miles away. However, it doesn’t matter where you live if you wish to come to our offices and we have parking outside.  We strongly recommend that you involve your relatives and of course they are most welcome to join in the meeting.

Safeguards

We deal with companies who are members of SHIP (SAFE HOME INCOME PLANS) who have a Code of Conduct for their members and your solicitors.

Solicitors

You will need to appoint a solicitor to act for you in the transaction so that you receive INDEPENDENT LEGAL ADVICE. We can provide you with a list of solicitors who are used to dealing with equity release.
